CONSCIOUS CHOICE FOR OURSELVES AND THE
PLANET
CORK – a warm material with a natural texture and look. After harvesting, cork trees
remain alive and can regenerate their bark. Also, waste from cork production is used
to produce further items or for upcycling.
BAMBOO – a durable material with a natural look and feel. It‘s one of the fastest-
growing plants on Earth. Grows back after being cut down and is a persistent plant
that requires little chemical protection.
WOOD – an easily accessible local material, which reduces the carbon footprint.
Best if harvested responsibly, from legal sources, and combined with reforestation.
STAINLESS STEEL – one of the most recycled materials. Steel recycling is effective
and allows for repeated processing without losing the properties of the material.
Safe for food storage and resistant to corrosion.
GLASS – frequently recycled material. Glass recycling is efficient and allows multiple
processing cycles without losing the properties of the material. It doesn‘t release
harmful substances and is safe for food storage.
RPET – made from PET plastic bottles, which reduce waste and the need for
petrochemical materials. RPET production usually requires less energy than that of
PET. Retains the basic plastic features of durability and flexibility.
COTTON – a natural, multifunctional material. It is biodegradable, which minimises
waste. Depending on the type, it can be grown with minimal use of chemicals (e.g.
organic cotton).
JUTE – a natural fibre extracted from the jute plant, which grows relatively fast and
does not require much chemical treatment. Compared to other crops, it has a lower
water demand. It decomposes naturally and is durable.
RECYCLED PAPER – it reduces the need to cut down trees and the production
requires less water compared to regular paper. It can be recycled again, which
promotes a closed material cycle.
